Facilitated by parent volunteer Lindsey Whitcomb, 5th grade students
Colton Conger, Alivia Harris, and Ayden Malahoff-Kamei testify at legislature for HB1577.

Ka’elepulu Zero Waste Hui and our 5th grade lunchtime helpers have been working hard to help pass legislative bill  HB1577, which would allocate funding from the State to pay for an expansion of our wildly successful food waste composting program to other area schools.  So far, since January, our teams at Ka’elepulu, Kainalu, and Lanikai Elementary have worked to recover & divert nearly 7 tons of food waste!  For more information, contact volunteer Lindsey Whitcomb at alohawhitcombs@icloud.com.  Grade 5 students Alivia Harris, Coltin Conger, and Ayden Malahoff-Kamei all testified in front of the State Education Committee in the House of Representatives!  Go Ka’elepulu!!
